Former Afghanistan ambassador to India Dr Shaida Abdali took to Twitter to express his worries about the film. Panipat is based on the Third Battle of Panipat. The battle took place between Afghanistan’s king Ahmad Shah Abdali and the Maratha empire on January 14, 1761 at Panipat and lasted for several days. Ahmad Shah Abdali defeated the Maratha warriors and slaughtered 40,000 Maratha prisoners in cold blood the day after the battle. The third Battle of Panipat is one of the most significant ones ever fought in the history of India. In Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat, Sanjay Dutt is shown as a fearsome and ruthless Ahmad Shah Abdali in the film Panipat, the first trailer of which was recently released. Showing concern over Ahmad Shah Abdali’s portrayal in Panipat, Afghanistan’s former ambassador to India Dr Shaida Abdali wrote as response to Sanjay Dutt’s tweet, "Dear @duttsanjay Ji: Historically, the Indian cinema has been extremely instrumental in strengthening the Indo-Afghan ties – I very much hope that the film "Panipat" has kept that fact in mind while dealing with this important episode of our shared history!" Arjun Kapoor is playing the role of the Maratha warrior, Sadashiv Rao Bhau in Panipat and Kriti Sanon is portraying the role of Parvati Bai, Sadashiv’s wife. In the trailer of Panipat, Sadashiv Rao Bhau is seen bravely fighting Ahmad Shah Abdali in the battlefield. The trailer, however, doesn’t make it clear who won the Third Battle Of Panipat."
